Once again, I’m very happy to be a part of Boomer Lit Friday! I hope you enjoy my next excerpt from
From Chapter 32:
I’m sitting in the fog. Literally. I’m on top of a mountain, completely socked-in with fog, writing at a picnic table. And it’s raining. Fortunately it’s a covered picnic table.
I don’t know when the rain will stop. But I know it will.
I don’t know when the fog will lift. But I know it will.
I don’t know when the sun will come out and the skies will be blue again. But I know it will happen.
I can’t do a thing about any of these things. The rain, the fog, the sunshine and the blue skies are all in God’s hands. And so am I.
Have you ever felt like that? I would love to hear your thoughts. My book is available as an ebook or in print from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords and others. Direct links are on the Mutinous Baby Boomer website:

CHEERS!
Enjoyed the snippet! Yes, I’ve often felt that way, and it’s only as you grow older that you really come to feel through your bones, that yes, the fog will lift, the sunshine will come back…Takes a boomer’s experience to feel that way! And love your picture too!
Thanks, Claude. Yes, I do think it takes a boomer’s experience, the passing of years, to find that perspective. So very glad you enjoyed it. And happy that you liked the photos – you inspired me to make my blog more graphically pleasing – thanks!
The pictures and snippet are great. You get a lot of bang for the buck adding the visuals.
D.R. – thanks, glad you enjoyed it! As far as the visuals, I realized after the 1st Boomer Lit Friday that I had to beef up my blog with photos. i even went back and added some photos to previous blogs and I think the effort was worth it. But, it sure does take some pre-planning for our Friday Blog Hop! Cheers!
Marsha, this is lovely. I can feel the rain and the mist of a foggy day. Love the images you chose to accompany your excerpt. And, yes, I have felt that way 😉
Shelley, I’m very pleased you could relate to it. I was actually on top of a mountain in the rain when the fog was rolling in, so I’m glad you could feel the rain and the mist of a foggy day…
Thanks!
Lyrical and sad, but hopeful too. Well done.
Thank you for your comments, Libby. I hope it was more hopeful than sad! There are those poignant moments in life.
Very lovely and lovely photos, too.
Thank you, Kathleen. It was a lovely moment, not fiction, I was actually on a mountain top when the rain and fog moved in. It was a moment in time I’ll never forget.
Smacked me right into the scene and made me want to stay there. Nicely done!
Michael, I read your comment to my husband and he said, “Written like a true author!” and I assured him you are! I can’t think of anything I’d rather hear from the author of “Goodbye Emily” than I “smacked” you right into the scene! Thanks!
I’ve learned to enjoy rain and fog, which is lucky since I live in the Seattle area! Your excerpt creates a calm and peaceful mood and the photo enhances that. Nicely written.
If you live in the Seattle area, I’m sure you’ve had to make peace with the rain and fog. They can be very cathartic at times, as well as symbolic of certain moments in our lives. Thank you for your kind words.
Yes, I know that feeling. I’m halfway through your book, and it is very inspiring…a real blessing.
A real blessing – thank you so very much. That has been my hope, that my book would be a good read and a blessing. Thank you, Sarah.
Indeed, I think we all have felt that way. It’s knowing that the fog will lift that sees us through.
Lisa, I really appreciate your kind feedback. Yes, it is knowing that it will life that sees us through…
Marsha, this is beautiful, the prose and the photos. You’ve inspired me to try and add images! I am reading your book now, and liking it a lot. You have shared a lot of thoughts with your readers and inspired many.
Lynn, I’m thrilled to hear you are enjoying my book! That means a great deal to me. I have tried to share my thoughts in my book as honestly as possible and I hope it will bless my readers (and I hope it’s also a good read!). Thank you, Lynn.
Your words are like poetry. Thank you!
Poetry. I didn’t expect that, Courtney. I appreciate your generous words very much. Thank YOU!
I could feel the fog! Just downloaded your book this week, and I’m looking forward to it.
Oh, thank you, Linda. I was actually in the fog, on a mountain top, when I wrote that passage, so it means a great deal that you could feel it. I look forward to your thoughts when you start reading it!
